The American Heart Association was founded on 10th June 1924 in the United States of America. It is a non-profit association formed to fund cardiovascular medical research. One of the major diseases that cause maximum death in the world is heart disease. Heart attack is the second leading cause of death and disability in the world. Every year, more than eight lakh Americans from all age groups die of a heart attack. Many people also suffer disabilities due to heart disease. AHA is formed to educate people and let them understand that they can prevent heart disease by following a few simple steps like exercising, keeping weight in check, controlling BP, cholesterol, and sugar.

Today, this association is USA’s oldest and largest voluntary association that is solely dedicated to fighting against heart stroke, and heart disease. AHA has invested more than $4.8 billion in cardiovascular disease research because heart stroke is the leading cause of death in the USA. Its mission includes reducing heart disease, building healthier lives, and making the world free of CVD and stroke.
