Introduction

doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation mission statement and vision statement manifests the general desire to provide global communities with tools needed to be self-reliant.

doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation’s progress is a result of effective strategic management that applies a mission statement and a vision statement suited for health care and business professionals. Having experienced the life-enriching power of essential oils, a group of health-care and business professionals collaborated with a common goal of creating a new standard of essential oils that would influence individuals and communities around the world. In 2008,  doTERRA, meaning “Gift of the Earth,” began its operation.

In sharing the essential oils worldwide, doTERRA aimed to serve people and communities with the various resources that they had. Initially, this was done by donating to charities, fundraising, and community outreach projects, but it eventually grew to much more.

The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation was founded in June 2012 as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation is one of the ways doTERRA reaches out and serves communities that are in need. They do this by partnering with organizations and doTERRA Wellness Advocates who offers hope to millions around the world.

Through the foundation’s efforts, many lives are saved and freed from diseases and poverty, and communities are empowered with the knowledge and skills to become self-reliant and productive.

The first donations of doTERRA Healing Foundation went to microcredit lending funds through the nonprofit organization named Mentors International. Through this fund, and the additional funds that have been generated from over the years, credit is provided to small business owners that do not have access to financing opportunities where their only option is to borrow from unethical and even dangerous lending sharks.

The partnership between doTERRA Healing Foundation and Mentors International, they provide the hardworking entrepreneurs with small business loans and education to help them succeed in their business enterprises. These loans offer opportunities for personal and family growth and development which helped them be removed from poverty.

In addition to microcredit lending, the doTERRA Healing Foundation focuses on programs and organizations that work to improve sanitation and water availability, health care, and educational opportunities. To encourage and support the many existing service programs, the Wellness Advocates are able to request assistance from doTERRA Healing Foundation for projects or service programs they are involved in.

The first hurdle to overcome was the  establishment of a standard of quality in an industry that never had one. The founders of doTERRA were committed to providing only the highest quality and purest essential oils that families are assured that they are using only the best to promote health and wellness to their loved ones.

This success is attributed to stringent measures to ensure the mission and vision statements are fulfilled. In theory, the foundation’s vision statement provides organizational direction toward a desired future condition of the foundation. On the other hand, the foundation’s mission statement present business goals and guides strategic management in the foundation. For example, the foundation emphasizes target customers’ convenience in accessing the best therapeutic essential oils in the world.
