Georgetown Mission Statement

Georgetown University is one of the leading research universities known for its legacy. It is also one of the oldest Catholic and Jesuit universities that were established in 1789 with the aim to bridge the gap of different experiences and identities. The university not only shares the position of high repute, but it also helps in the holistic development of the individual. At the same time, it also incorporates new methods of teaching, which makes the learning process more effective.

Georgetown Mission Statement

Georgetown mission statement says, “Georgetown educates women and men to be reflective lifelong learners, to be responsible and active participants in civic life, and to live generously in service to others.”

This mission statement highlights that the university’s focal point is to make its students reflect on what they learn, even when they step outside the university and lead a life of their own. In other words, its mission gives importance to go beyond classroom learning. They help in not only professional growth but also focus on personal excellence. The university wants people to value the need for education and how important it is to keep learning throughout their life. It wants to create citizens who are responsible towards the community as well as kind towards one and all.

Georgetown Vision Statement

The university’s website does not define any clear Georgetown vision statement, as such. However, the website does state that the University is “An academic community dedicated to creating and communicating knowledge, Georgetown provides excellent undergraduate, graduate and professional education in the Jesuit tradition for the glory of God and the well-being of humankind.”

This suggests that the university’s vision goes ahead of just educating the people. It wants to set new standards of personal and professional growth. Its courses are designed and inspired by the teaching of Christ and put emphasis on the holistic development of individuals by following the Jesuit tradition. This tradition focuses on education in totality, i.e. of mind, body, and soul. This benefits not just the individual but also the community.
