Girl Scouts Mission and Vision Statements Analysis

Girl Scouts mission statement is “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” The statement emphasizes the difference that the organization makes in the life of its members. It has these main components:

  1. Improving lives
  2. Exceeding expectations

The central role of Girl Scouts is to expose, nurture, and mold girls into responsible and productive adults. The organization targets specific attributes that transform individuals into leaders. It also exposes them to learning experiences while interacting with professional women who believe in its cause. Currently, it has over 2.5 million members. As the second component suggests, there is more to what the organization has to offer. Its programs are inclusive of fun-filled activities such as outdoor games as well as adventurous trips to diversify the learning process.

Introduction

The Girl Scouts is an American youth organization that focuses on empowerment and unlocking the potential of young American females within and outside the borders of the U.S. It was launched in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low to impart and develop leaders from this target group. The establishment is led by corporate mission and vision statements that emphasize the difference that Girls Scout has in the outcome of girls. A corporate vision statement provides a future goal for a firm to pursue.

For Girl Scouts, its vision statement is all about the leadership impacts it has on its audience. A corporate mission statement, on the other hand, describes strategic ways of progressing a firm towards the vision. In this case, the mission statement by Girl Scouts targets three main qualities of a leader – confidence, courage, and character. The core values of this organization emphasize similar elements, and this is what makes Girls Scout a unique entity.

Vision Statement

Though not published in its site, the vision statement of Girls Scout shows that it “provides an all-girl and girl-controlled environment where girls can discover, maximumly learn, and hone their leadership skills.” The statement has two components:

  1. All girl’s environment
  2. Discover, learn and hone

The organization considers the one gender inclined environment that it provides as an ideal one where girls can realize their leadership potentials. In this way, the members get an opportunity to build stronger identities and embrace both the laws and the promise of the Girls Scout. These drive them to become successful individuals.

Core Values

Girls Scout core values include “courage, confidence, leadership, character, and entrepreneurship.” With these values, the organization creates a supportive system where every individual is part of the overall unit.
