What Is the Walmart Slogan

Walmart is one of the most popular stores in the world. If you shop at Walmart, you’ve likely heard the Walmart slogan many times. But what does it mean, and where did it come from? In this blog post, we will explore the history and meaning of Walmart’s slogan. We will also discuss how it has evolved over time and why it is so successful. So, read on to learn more!

What Is the Walmart’s Slogan?

Slogans are short phrases that companies use to advertise or promote their products or services. Walmart’s current slogan is “Save money. Live better.” The company has been using this slogan since 2007.

What Is the Meaning Behind Walmart’s Slogan?

Walmart’s slogan communicates the company’s core promise to its customers – that Walmart can help them save money and live better lives.

The “Save money” part is the key focus of Walmart’s slogan. Walmart wants customers to know that they are committed to helping them save money, and Walmart does this by offering low prices, deals, and promotions. Additionally, Walmart provides convenient shopping options such as online ordering and curbside pickup, which can help customers save both time and money. And by doing all of this, Walmart wants to ensure customers that by shopping at Walmart, they will be able to save money and use those savings to invest in their future.

Not only are the claims about the potential savings accurate, but they’re actually valid. Walmart’s report states that their low prices are estimated to save customers around $2500 annually per household. To put it into perspective, this equals a total of $287 billion. And this result is due to Walmart’s commitment to lowering the prices of their products year after year. And this is what Walmart wants customers to think when they hear the Walmart slogan.

The second part of Walmart’s slogan – “Live better” – emphasizes Walmart’s commitment to helping customers improve their quality of life. Walmart wants customers to know that Walmart can help them achieve their goals, whether that is saving for a college education, buying a house, or simply having more money to spend on leisure activities. The idea is that Walmart is there not just for their shopping needs but also to help them reach their goals.

Furthermore, the “live better” part of Walmart’s slogan alludes to the retailer’s involvement in community work. The most evident proof of this is the Walmart Foundation project. This project is the charitable arm of Walmart, which focuses on giving back to communities in need while also emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Taking into account all of this, you can now see why Walmart’s slogan “Save money. Live better” is so powerful and has been successful in drawing customers to Walmart stores.

What Was the First Walmart Slogan?

Walmart has had a number of slogans since it was founded in 1962. Walmart’s first slogan was “Always Low Prices. Always.” which Walmart used for the next few decades. Walmart’s current slogan of “Save money. Live better.” was first introduced in 2007 and has been Walmart’s main slogan ever since.

What Is the History of Walmart’s Slogans?

Walmart’s slogan history dates back to the 1960s when Walmart first opened its doors. Walmart’s original slogan was “Always Low Prices. Always.” This slogan was Walmart’s main slogan for decades, and it embodied Walmart’s commitment to offering customers low prices.

Walmart has used different versions of its slogan over the years to communicate its message of saving people money. Let’s take a look at Walmart’s slogan timeline:

  • 1962-1988: Always Low Prices. Always.
  • 1988-1994: Always The Low Price. Always.
  • 1994-1996: Always Low Prices. Always Walmart.
  • 1996-1999: Better Every Day Low Prices! Always.
  • 1999-2007: Always Low Prices. Always.
  • 2007-present: Save Money. Live Better.

Walmart has always changed its slogan to launch a branding update. However, the slogan change in 1988 was not for branding purposes but rather to differentiate Walmart from other discount stores that were popping up at the time. Walmart’s slogan of “Always Low Prices. Always.” helped Walmart stand out from the competition and remind customers that Walmart had the best prices.

However, this change in Walmart’s slogan in 1988 was short-lived. This is because the Better Business Bureau, along with several of Walmart’s retail competitors, filed a complaint against the company for its deceptive slogan, “Always The Low Price. Always.” The complaint accused Walmart of false advertising, claiming that the store did not always have the lowest price on every item. The National Advertising Review Board then decided that the slogan might, in fact, deceive customers. As a result, in 1994, Walmart had to change its slogan to “Always Low Prices. Always Walmart”.

Who Created Walmart’s Current Slogan?

In 2007, Walmart decided to go with a new branding and slogan. The company returned to its roots and found the perfect words from Walmart founder Sam Walton himself.

The idea for the slogan came when Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George H. Bush in March 1992.

In Sam Walton’s acceptance speech, Walton used the phrase “Save Money. Live Better.” These words perfectly captured Walmart’s goal to provide its customers with low prices on necessary items, so they could live a better life. So, Walmart adopted this phrase as its slogan in 2007 and has been using it ever since.

Who Created the Name “Walmart”?

Sam Walton may have had the vision for Walmart’s mission statement, “Save Money. Live Better.”, but the company name itself was thought up by Bob Bogle. Bogle worked as Sam Walton’s first manager at the Walton Five and Dime in Bentonville.

As the first Walmart store was being built, Sam Walton hadn’t decided on a name for his new company yet. He showed Bogle a few different names, but they were all quite long. Bogle explained to Sam Walton that the name shouldn’t be too long, as it would cause a higher electricity bill due to the number of letters needed to light up Walmart’s first store sign.

Kmart was a booming company that customers were already familiar with, so Bogle recommended Sam Walton go for something similar but include his name in it. Bogle suggested the name “WALMART”  by giving Sam a piece of paper with “WALMART” written on it. Sam just stared at it briefly before shoving it into his pocket.

Bob Bogle was unsure of what Sam Walton thought about his idea for the company name. It wasn’t until he saw the sign with the name “WALMART” being installed that Bogle realized that Sam liked his suggestion after all.

What Is the Walmart Logo?

The current Walmart logo was first used in 2008. It features Walmart’s signature yellow and blue colors, as well as Walmart’s six-petal sign, known today as the “Walmart Spark.”

The Walmart Spark symbolizes the motivation and inspiration that founder Sam Walton had when opening the first Walmart store in 1962. The spark of inspiration that he experienced led him to prioritize customers, offer quality products at affordable prices, and increase profits by selling more items rather than raising the price per item. This is what the company works to instill in its employees today.

According to the Walmart Digital Museum, each of the company’s six yellow petals on its logo represents a different value. These values are as follows:

  • At Walmart, we always put our customers first. We show them the same respect we would want to be shown and act with integrity in everything we do.
  • Our associates are what make us successful – they’re dedicated to providing excellent service every day.
  • And our goal is simple: to be the best at everything we do.

So, Walmart’s current slogan is “Save Money. Live Better.” It was created by Walmart founder Sam Walton himself and adopted in 2007. Walmart’s current slogan is meant to emphasize Walmart’s commitment to helping customers save money and, in turn, live better lives. In other words, Walmart wants customers to know that Walmart can help them access the products and services they need while also providing quality service.
